Greatest TV Hosts

Do You Remember....?
I could name famous people like Merv Griffin or Johnny Carson, but this hub is not about them or anyone like them. It is about the most original and/or outrageous television shows and their hosts. Anyone can do the somber take it seriously news thing. Or the talk show host make a fool of someone else show. But how many can be truly funny and creative? That is what this hub addresses, the truly original, funny and creative. I hope you enjoy it and it brings back fond memories.
Oooooooooh Scaaaaary!
Zomboo's House Of Horror Movies
Hello boy and ghouls, mummies and deadies it's your old pal Zomboo. That's right Zomboo (pronounced Zom-Bow) is easily the front runner for any hub like this one. He is funny. He inserts himself into the films where you least expect it. The movies are B movies and between him and the movie the whole thing is hillarious fun! You can see more videos at youtube.com or go to his website for more info http://www.zomboo.com/
Uncle Floyd
The Uncle Floyd Show
This was a local show in northern New Jersey. Uncle Floyd had everything and everyone from the unusual to the famous. I loved when he would show the pictures he received in the mail from all the little boys and girls of Rutgers University. Just like any good uncle he would hang the pictures up for everyone to see. The comedy was zany and irreverent. Like a combination of Captain Kangaroo meets Soupy Sails.
Elvira Late Night's Scary Lady
Elvira, Mistress Of the Dark
I first saw Elvira when I was in the Army. She made a lot of people laugh with her tongue-in-cheek sexual references and innuendo. The movies were not very good as is the case with a lot of late night horror hosts/hostesses but it was worth watching just for a laugh. At that time I would relax with a group of Army buddies and our girlfriends, eat pizza, watch movies, make bets and just have a good time. Elvira brings back many memories. You can see what I mean by going to her home page. http://modlife.com/elvira
Alfred Hitchcock Presents
Alfred Hitchcock
Alfred Hitchcock was very funny. He kept the proverbial "stiff upper lip" while delivering puns related to his stories. The stories were scary and thought provoking and you always came away wanting more. His comic genius is often overlooked because of his greatness as a director. The films to his credit include "The Birds" and "Psycho". If you never watched Alfred Hitchcock Presents you missed out on a truly great experience. You can still view entire episodes by going to http://www.hulu.com/alfred-hitchcock-presents.
The Benny Hill Show
Benny Hill
British funny man! Fast paced funny skits often without words. You always knew what was going on you never needed words. Show was complete with skirt chasing, irreverent humour (that's humor in english) sicko's and sickies of all ages, police chases, and other silliness. Truly a TV original. The Benny Hill show ran in the US for many years in syndication and was broadcast by network and independent stations alike.
Red Green
Red Green is Canada's answer to "Tim The Tool Man Taylor". Red's solutions are inventive to say the least! It's the best "how (not) to" for stupid people! Red's tireless (pun intended) pursuit of non-perfection, and his love of duct tape are the subject matter for every show. The humor is hilarious and over the top goofy! If you like to get a cheap laugh (cheap as in the cost of duct tape) this show is for you!
Bozo The Clown Show
Bozo The Clown
This was a great kid show! I fondly remember watching Bozo as a kid. This show was one of my favorites. Kids from all over could get tickets to be in the audience. He gave prizes, the show was full of action and cartoons. There was generally speaking nothing rude or age inappropriate about the program. There really are no shows like it today. In it's time there were many. In addition to Bozo there was Romper Room, Birthday House (where kids could celebrate their birthdays on TV), and Wonderama.
Wonderama With Bob McAlister
Wonderama
Part game show, part educational, part children's talk show. Bob McAlister hosted this show which was all about kids. It was fun and educational. Famous people often came on the show and shared inspirational thoughts and answered questions for the kids. When Wonderama went off the air a great piece of Americana went with it. It was a one of a kind show which lasted 31 years. It was truly great!
Birthday House With Paul Tripp
Birthday House
I remember birthday house well. My mom bought me birthday house albums. Those albums were my first records. Everyone loved Birthday House. Paul Tripp was a great host. Everyone who was on the show had a birthday and that was their celebration party. Every kid got a bag full of goodies which included a birthday hat and noise maker. They sang and ate cake and ice cream. Very cute show. There is nothing like it today!

I was always fond of Elvira, and I remember sneaking peeks at the Benny Hill show as a child when my parents thought I was in bed. Wonderful hub! I greatly enjoyed reading.
